Custom design, although complex and more time intensive than not, results in wonderful, just-the-way-you-like-it beautiful jewelry. Here the ideas of an owner and the craftsmanship of the artist combine for spectacular results. Here is an example of the step by step custom process taken on a fabulous custom designed and specially made suite for one of our clients.

The first step is often selection of stones or working with stones that may already have been acquired. For this project, we worked with a suite of custom cut amethysts by Richard Homer. Included in the suite was a large 19ct concave faceted stone for the pendant, a fairly large 7ct concave faceted amethyst for the ring and a smaller pair of concave faceted stones for the earrings.

The next step was a consultation with the designer, in this case Ocean Pearlman in Tucson, Arizona. From information given her, Ocean produced an original rendering of her design concept.

Although rare, in this case the client was just not excited about Ocean' designs. So our client brought in a magazine with some things she liked the feel of and asked Ocean to try again.

Still more work took place and we received back another suite of designs, very much different in feel from the first set, these being embraced by our client. The earrings were still not as envisioned.

Further discussion lead to a new idea which was sent to Ocean through the speed of the Internet.

We eventually decided to omit the diamonds all together around the amethysts on the earrings in the interest of a more "wearable" design that would be fun to wear to many types of functions, as well as suitable for formal wear.
